THE REVELATION AT REPHIDIM
8 While the people of Israel were still at Rephidim, the warriors of Amalek attacked them.
Exodus 17:8 New Living Translation
When looking at this passage of scripture, the context features Joshua and Moses. We are introduced to Joshua in the valley and Moses on the hill. It is leadership shown in low place and in a high place. However, our featured text mentions a location by the name of Rephidim. The name Rephidim is a hebrew word that means “resting place.”
What is interesting about Rephidim is that the Israelites were attacked by the Amalekites at Rephidim. This is interesting because they were attacked in a place where they should have been resting. The lesson here is that there is a potential for you to be under attack in the very place you are looking to get rest. It is with this understanding that in your place of rest, that it is no place to relax.
Paul reminds us that we need to put on the whole armor of God, twice in Ephesians 6. Our battle is not against flesh and blood but spiritual wickedness. When it comes to the demonic spirits of the world, they never sleep which means we can not relax. Our place of rest COULD BE THE SAME PLACE OF OUR RESISTANCE! You need to know that your resting place is NO PLACE TO RELAX!
Always remember, as a child of God, rest is a necessity but to relax can be fatal!
In our world, it is no time to relax but God still allows for rest for restoration for our various confrontations.
