THE GENIUS OF JESUS
[PART III]

7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. 8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. 9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. 10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? 11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
John 8:7-11
King James Version

We opened this series with an understanding that the adulterous woman was the headline, but the story line was centered around Jesus. We see the religious leaders making accusations at the woman on the surface, but their hidden agenda was to indict Jesus of excusing this woman of her adulterous actions.

The Genius of Jesus shows up when His Omniscience overwhelms the Pharisees and scribes conscience [vs. 9]. It was when Jesus says, “…he that is without sin, cast the first stone…” Jesus’ statement served as an indictment that convicted their conscience that failed to excuse their behavior but exposed their sinful behavior. The Genius of Jesus allowed those who wanted to put this woman to shame in public, ended up walking away in shame because of their sinful actions in private.

However, the good news of the text is when Jesus asked her a question. He asks the adulterous woman, “…where are your accusers?” The blessing of this text is that, Jesus dismissed those who felt she had no future because they were familiar with her past. There are some people who can only attack your past because your potential leads to a brighter future. In order to keep you down, they must attack your past which simply means they have no future.

The command that this woman must comply to for a future is when Jesus says, “Go and sin no more.” The commitment that this woman must make is to GO [new direction] and Sin No More [making the right corrections].

In other words, YOUR NEW DESTINY AND OLD MENTALITY CANNOT CO-EXIST. A NEW DIRECTION MUST BE FOLLWED BY MAKING THE RIGHT CORRECTIONS.
