I’M LIVING MY BEST LIFE
[Living a Life Based on Godly Wisdom]

These are the proverbs of King Solomon of Israel, David’s son:
2He wrote them to teach his people how to live—how to act in every circumstance, 3for he wanted them to be understanding, just, and fair in everything they did. 4“I want to make the simpleminded wise!” he said. “I want to warn young men about some problems they will face. 5-6I want those already wise to become wiser and become leaders by exploring the depths of meaning in these nuggets of truth.” 7-9How does a man become wise? The first step is to trust and reverence the Lord!
Proverbs 1:1-9 The Living Bible Paraphrase

I have tagged this text to parallel a popular song title that has become the theme song for many millennials and seniors alike. A man by the name of Lil Duval created a song that has caught fire around the world entitled: I AM LIVING MY BEST LIFE. He has identified living his best life by “not going back and forth you Nubians” [smile].

We transition from the song to the scriptures that God will give us a foundation that will propel us to living our best lives. We turn our attention to the book of Proverbs. This book written by King Solomon is considered to be a book full of wisdom. We declare that in order to LIVE OUR BEST LIVES, we must allow ourselves to be led by wisdom.

When it comes to living our best lives, the proverbs says to us in the opening words of this book by saying,

These are the proverbs of King Solomon of Israel, David’s son:

2He wrote them to teach his people how to live—how to act in every circumstance

Solomon wanted to teach people “HOW TO LIVE AND HOW TO ACT” to ensure one of living their best life. In order to acquire this kind of wisdom, Solomon suggests it requires a first step that includes trusting and reverencing [or respecting] the Lord. It becomes problematic when those of us who know God, live like there is no God! The Psalmist reminds us in Psalm 14:1 that, “a fool says in his heart, there is no God.” However, it is also foolish for someone to claim to know God but still lives life as though there is no God. It is total disrespect when we fail to trust God at His word because the first step to wisdom is trust and reverence.

Proverbs 3:5, 6 reminds us to “Trust in the Lord and lean not unto our own understanding. In all our ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct our path.” LIVING OUR BEST LIVES INCLUDE US TRUSTING THE LORD’S PLAN WHILE RESPECTING THEM BY OBEYING HIS WORD.
