Philippians 2 v. 5-9
5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. 9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
Our Great Savior
The writer of Philippians has come to let us know that we have a Great Savior. It doesn’t matter where we have been, what we have done or what we are going through He is there for us. Having such experiences, Paul is letting us know that we have a committed Savior.
Paul had a vision where he was able to get a glimpse of the third heaven. Jesus, who knew the praise of angels gave it up for us. He did not have to. Jesus voluntarily laid aside some of His divine prerogatives when He came into this world. He did it to save us and to let us know that he could understand us, help us and save us.
He gave up his hometown in glory and became a stranger in the earth. Jesus in our interests left a natural estate in heaven, came here to this low land of sorrow to be marked and ridiculed. He took upon himself the form of a servant in our behalf and in our interest. He became death eligible and pain capable for us. He who did not need to humble himself had no reason to humble himself – but he did and became not only obedient to death but also the death of the cross. Let us remember, He Is highly exalted in His name – He has been given “a name that is above every name”. What name is it? JE-SUS! Two syllables but so powerful and so great.
Je-sus – Our Great Savior
