Lord…Please Show Me Your GLORY!
[The Difficulty-Part I]
17 So the Lord said to Moses, “I will also do this thing that you have spoken; for you have found grace in My sight, and I know you by name.”18 And he said, “Please, show me Your glory.”
Exodus 33:17, 18 New King James Version
Moses was called by God, in Exodus 3, to lead the children of Israel from bondage to the blessing of being in the promise land. However, we come to chapter 32, where we see a period of time where there is some difficulty in the history of this nation. It is in chapter 32 where we come to understand that there is a season of difficulty prior to God showing us His glory in chapter 33 which is our destiny!
Moses request in chapter 33:18, “Please, show me Your glory.” The reason why Moses request to see God’s glory is because is present environment is full of adversity. The people that he has been chosen to lead has become disobedient. They chose to manufacture a god by FRACTURING their relationship with the ONE TRUE GOD of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. The One True God who delivered them is the God they are trying to dismiss from them!
Moses also sees difficulty manifesting in his partnership. Moses’ assistant pastor was Aaron his brother. When Moses is having some alone time with God, Aaron chooses to be popular with the people and not operate in the calling of being PECULIAR. In order to be popular with the people, HE IMMEDIATELY BECAME UNPOPULAR WITH GOD by allowing himself to partner with people who wanted to worship idol gods.
It is at this point where we transition from chapter 32, that deals with the difficulty, to chapter 33 that has a request of LORD SHOW ME YOUR GLORY. Many of us have seasons of difficulty that have us requesting of God to PLEASE SHOW ME YOUR GLORY. The good news about this text is that, the story doesn’t end in chapter 32. The story doesn’t end in the difficulty because there is a chapter 32 that gives us hope for God to SHOW US HIS GLORY!GOD BLESS!
-In part 2 of this sermon, we will uncover His Glory! However, seeing His Glory will be from a peculiar perspective. Come join us to see HIS GLORY that will only come by seeing Him from behind! See you Sunday!
