II Kings 5 v. 1, 14-15

5 Now Naaman, captain of the host of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honourable, because by him the LORD had given deliverance unto Syria: he was also a mighty man in valour, but he was a leper. 14 Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean. 15 And he returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and came, and stood before him: and he said, Behold, now I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in Israel: now therefore, I pray thee, take a blessing of thy servant.

When A Great Man Meets The Almighty God

Most of us have heard of Naaman. In reading our text we know that he was a great man with a great disease. He had leprosy. By God’s divine intervention he made a way for Naaman to be genuinely healed.

This healing was to come by way of a little maid who had been captured and ended up serving Ms. Naaman. This little girl knew there was power in the prophet. One of the most important things in your life and my life is to know where the power is.

Naaman also had his valley as he was going through to get to. He lost sight of what he had been told and went to his king which sent him to another king, and gathered material things to take with him when this is not what the little maid had told him to do. As God would have it, Naaman was once again directed to the Prophet Elisha.

So often we talk about Naaman’s leprosy, we talk about Naaman dipping in the Jordan and forget about Naaman’s transformation when he finally decides to obey God on God’s terms. Naaman was to dip seven times. When he did, he was not only healed he was transformed in his mind and his body. A great man has met the Almighty God. He went back to Elisha and said now I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in Israel.

When we are troubled, we should go to the one who can help us in our situation. We need to be transformed in our thoughts and actions of doing things from the world’s way to God’s way. We are a peculiar people. We do things differently. Start doing things differently. Whether it is in your mind or in your physical, start dipping down and tell God what you need and do it seven times. If you are thankful, say “Thank you God’ seven times. If it’s healing, call out healing and imagine yourself going down seven times. You will feel His power within. Your mind will be transformed as well as your heart. Before you know it, you will end up in a “shout”.

My Testimony: I didn’t share this on Sunday, but I purchased a car in 2012. While sitting there with a friend whom I took with me, we were waiting for the completion of my paperwork, God brought to my mind, the Jericho Wall – seven times. He directed me while sitting there to walk around that car seven times asking for protection for whomever was in that car and those around it at all times. I got up and excused myself and started walking around the car and praying. The salesman who is a Christian said to me upon re-entering the dealership, “I watched you and you walked around that car seven times”. He said, “I know what you were doing”. I said yes and smiled. He then said “let us have a word of prayer”. Two years after that car was purchased, in 2014 there was a major accident and my car was totaled. All of those inside of it walked away from the accident with minor injuries. I know that being obedient to God is the best thing we could ever do.
